Family Farm Transcript
- Now, when we buy a farm, we usually have a summer kitchen on the farm. If we don't, we built one as soon as we can afford it. Like this little house here at one time used to be the summer kitchen, and this is where you eat and cook in the summertime so that you have your large home cool for company and also to sleep in. There's a lot of difference in our church as far as our modernization is concerned from one one community to another one. Like one man told me, he said, if you wanna be so old fashioned, he said, why don't you get a candle, your lantern in there used to be modern at one time. Well, I said, well mister, I said, the candle was just as modern when they invented it. He also told me, he says, show me in the Bible, where it reads that you have to wear a beard. I said, well, Mister, I have never read no place that it said that you have to wear a beard. He says, well, how's come you wanna wear it? I said, well, no, mister, I said, we wanna resemble like a Christ. He says, show me in the Bible where it says Christ wore a beard. I couldn't show you right away but I remember reading where I, where it said they spit in his face and pulled his beard. So I said, if you wanna argue, I said, just show me someplace where it says he didn't wear one. Where some areas, like over in Europe when the persecution was, the military, we didn't believe in this. So they had buttons, big brass buttons. So, we had hooks and eyes, so we don't resemble like them. They had the mustache. We didn't. They had the bill cap, and so we have the brim hat. It's not holding a grudge. We just don't wanna resemble the way that we were treated over there in Europe.
