David Evans |
David Evans is Professor of Music at The University of Memphis. Since the mid-1960s he has researched African-American blues, gospel, and folk music and folklore. He has published Tommy Johnson (1971) and Big Road Blues: Tradition and Creativity in the Folk Blues (1982) as well as many articles, book chapters, reviews, LPs, CDs, and album notes on these topics. Evans won a Grammy award in 2003 for his notes to the CD box set Screamin' and Hollerin' the Blues: The Worlds of Charley Patton.
