About the Film
Eva was born in 1921 in Berwind, Colorado. A coal miner’s daughter, she grew up without formal musical training. She taught herself how to play the violin by ear, playing and singing the traditional tunes and songs that were so familiar to her family. By 1949, Eva was playing professionally. Whether singing popular songs in both Spanish and English or playing the traditional Hispanic music that her family had played for generations, music was always central to her life. Eva passed away in 2018 at the age of 97.
