About the Film
Each year during the spring thaw known colloquially as “mud-season,” Tim Bent & family return to the sugar house he built back in his youth to produce maple syrup the old fashioned way using a large evaporator in a small building with no electricity or running water. This film shows in precise detail the methods & tools employed to produce Grade “A” Medium Amber Maple Syrup or “liquid gold” as it has also been known.
The film shows this tradition as its passed down from Father to Son, using techniques that have not changed much at all through generations of locals making this product for personal family use & distribution within their community.
